A trip to the past...listening to one of the albums of my youth (Neil Young's 'After the GoldRush') that was played until the grooves were worn to dull vinyl...
(1)
Mother nature on the run Moarns our lost innocence in soft plaintive sighs As Neil cries for redemption
In another time and place beyond this earth
(2) Only love can break your heart
Be brave and open it to love again
Just be careful next time and know that its true
Don't hide yourself in a lost dream
You'll lose the life in between
(3) Southern man keep your head
Good Book says to love thy neighbor
You crucify Him over and over on those crosses
And burn the remains of His sacrifice
(4) Till the morning comes, then I'm out of here
Thats all the time I'm giving you
Won't waste any more time waiting
Life's too short to waste on daydreams
(5) Oh lonesome me, I still love him so No way to lose these lonesome blues
Find someone new, just how is it done?
I'm not like you, out and fancy free
Can't get over how you left me, how I can trust again?
(6) Don't let it bring you down
All the death and injustice around you
Find someone to show you the beauty of life
And who can guide you through the smoke of castles burning
(7) Its over and this bird flies away without you
Look to tomorrow to show you what will come
My shadow will follow you and my wisdom will show you the way to go
(8) When you dance you can really love
The mountain grows and your joy flows to my river
Take a chance and let me tell you how much I love you-open the door
(9) I'll be leaving you now that you made yourself love me, if the guilt doesn't make me stay
I'm so sorry, I just don't feel the same way
Hope we can still be friends up the road
And laugh at ourselves
(10) Cripple Creek Ferry! Make way...
Tight squeeze under those trees
Gambler hates to lose and the Captain worries about his crew
Waters going down, Make Way!
(11) Tell me why you sale yourself so cheaply
Come and see me while I'm still around
I offer myself freely, but you want to know
What is the price you have to pay?
Very unique and well-conceived, Linda... all those tunes came flooding straight back into my mind as you mentioned them. Music is so "of the time" and yet curiously mystical in its ability to stir the memory and evoke as well. You have magically done all of these things here. TY Kate xx

AFTER THE GOLDRUSH is terrific, Linda!
There is so much here to like... the whole thing connects, but you can take it apart and make it all fit again. Great writing. I bet this took a bit out of you to compose.
One of my favorite lines:

This is neat... number five hits home... my last marriage, after I sobered up, I realized that I was also addicted to my ex-wife... that was harder to defeat then alcoholism... so much happened, and amazingly, I wasn't totally to blame, but when it was over, my trust of others was shot and my own trust in judgement took a hit... I had to learn to live life again, trusting myself and going in uncharted waters...
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
David Hightower’s lyrically expansive meditation on the whims of fate and the unpredictability of the human condition fill the pages of THE HANGING MAN DREAMS with thrilling music and mesmerizing imagery. Hightower’s richly infused voice echoes the e
