Beer sign askew
It glows red-orange neon
At night at the crossroads
On Rural Route 242
The dusty roads kick up a thirst Harold is happy to assuage
His hard crust cracks a smile
Makes you feel at home
Beer flows freely on summer days
95 degrees in the shade
The bottles sweat and men melt
In their tees and jeans
There stands Harold
Buttoned collar-long sleeves
Pressed polyester pants
Cool as the cucumbers
They peddle at roadside stands
The sign sways and moans with age
Spits and crackles gas
Discharges the moths
They butt heads against time
That stops at the crossroads
