Journal: The Coming of Autumn

We are poised as dapples of light on

maple leaves, absorbing energy for

Autumn's fall. The morning chill

speaks of change as it strokes our sun

burned cheeks. Children gulp the last

few hours of freedom down with their

cereal and juice, then rush to catch

life in a baseball mitt. With each

turn of the earth, the days grow

shorter. But before Autumn's brisk

descent, Indian summer will display

her beadery in azure blues and soft

golds. Every season marks it's passing

in celebratory as well as wistful

tones, in thankfulness for what the past

has given...

Very well done piece on the changing of the seasons. I particularly liked the baseball mitt line, ah, yes, being a guy I suppose I would. Brings back an innocence I lost a long, long time ago. Thanks for the memories. (Excuse me Bob Hope.)
