Contemplation of seemingly simple things can teach you profound lessons...Have a great weekend everyone!
I sit on the back step and meditate on the cracked sidewalk. A paradise tree was left to grow too close to the edge. It has become a 50 foot monster that has to be removed. The roots have spread and have pushed up to the surface. The sidewalk is a casualty of force-as if centered along a faultline during a quake. The continuity of the concrete, which was layed in a semi-circle to the porch, broken and heaved askew...Much like our hearts, I suppose. I ponder that love is a gift. Like a mirror, it shows us ourselves. Sometimes a beautiful image and sometimes ugly and frightening. In this lay the pain. The mirror cracks. Our self-image is damaged and the illusion broken. But this is to our growth if we're able to see ourselves true and learn from the experience. We can replace the mirror and the image will be clearer. We can patch the concrete and remove the roots of bitterness so that we are open to receive love again...
A beautiful contemplation Linda! You offer much hope about the beauty of love, how it shows us ourselves, and enables us to shatter our self-created illusions by seeing ourselves 'true and learn from our experiences', 'so we can replace the mirror and the image will be clearer', by 'removing the roots of bitterness'... A wonderful guide to opening the heart! Loved it Linda.. love Suzie xox :-)
Love is a gift. Once it is genuine, it last for a life time. Linda,
you have written some wise words here. Once you have a distorted picture about yourself, generally speaking, replace the mirror deep down and a glow of who you actually are will bust forth. Great write.
Such a wonderful comparison you have given us, Linda. It can be a time consuming and very difficult task to let go of the hurt and bitterness that stems from broken promises and unrealized dreams, but it is possible if we believe in ourselves and in love.
Take care,
Sherry
Wonderful allegory, Linda, and the images are sharp and crisp. Works well in both form and content, and your proposition is well-worked and graciously delivered. Thank you for both the inspiration and the beauty of the metaphor. This one will certainly make its mark, never to be uprooted. TY and bless you. Kate xx
So much in life is repairable if we wish it to be so and move to mend broken fences. Well done with beautiful similies depicting nature and life as we live it.
