There's a simple solution to every problem, right? Thoughts on our culture, the need for perfection and the loss of meaning...
Dark Moon
I'm ok, you're ok got my zoloft so soft floating on co-pilot between reading modern-day gurus and improving my mind with brain techtronics self-help texts and crossing off tasks on my "to-do" list one by one
Another day's done The sun was so bright I had to wear shades Everything's fine unless you read between the lines I keep the dark moon at bay smile and say "what a wonderful world" share a joke and don a smile How clever
I'm a lost cause afraid of the dark those boogie men in dreams or flickering on the screen Or between the cover of books that I slammed shut gathering dust Another pill will fix those No chance of overdose I follow directions to the letter Now...that feels better I actually prefer the numbness of collective blindness
"Those boogie men in dreams" may be trying to tell us the truth,
best to pretend we already know, to blindly follow, better yet to take a few pills to help us keep our wits about us...... To prefer
the numbness of collective blindness is insanity. Excellent Pierre.
Lin, You write well of so many caught in this rut of seeking numbness. The times are confusing everyone. Finding relief in a pill isn't the answer, but it helps at times.Excellent timely write!
this must hit home for so many people in our culture..........
so defined and yet so blurred
it must be tuff for some souls to cope....
very insightful Lin

Denying will never change the truth, but dwelling in it will not make us feel any better either. My daily thought to myself for today is: "If we don't acknowledge that we are part of the problem, it is certain that we will never be part of the solution." I have never taken meds for mood elevation, well at least not legal ones. <grin> I have always believed that it was up to me to control my attitude or it was going to control me. We may not be able to control what happens to us but we can control how we respond to it. I do agree with you that so many walk around numb and have no idea what life is really about and even less of a desire to find out. Living in a paper doll world works fine for them until the day that it all comes tumbling down. Nice work, Linda.
Take care,
Sherry
Nicely done, Lin. You make some great points. I've divorced myself from all my pills. I wasn't good at taking them "properly." That can be awkward. Thanks for this. Love and peace,
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.

What a profound statement for today's world, Linda.
