Imagine the light within you as you peel away the pale skin of winter that ghostly fog of sorrow's discontent The days fretted away in introspection falling as drizzled sleet on the windshield swept away in an arc in the quest for sight only to reappear again to blur your vision A lesson learned in the futility of regret
We are changelings always seeking growth out from the center of the seed we were absorbing light and air into our cells shedding the scales of days passed Our lives unfold as a petaled rose Rains will come but cleanse us of dusty debri nourish the dry chambers within our hearts as we blossom in beauty despite the thorn's sting if the root of bitterness does not take hold
Reveal the new flesh of renewal hungry for warmth and reborn to the sun The black soil is putty in your hands sifted and stirred unearthing beauty and you bring forth nurtured bloom from the spectre which haunted you It is now buried food for earthworms churning decay into new forms of life
Try as we may, we can never really peel away the skin of our past completely, Though I do think we need to shed enough to allow our selves to grow, for we are constantly changing, and we need to.
Excellent Pierre.
Your insight and imagery blend together here to force the reader to take a close look at their own immortality and the way life unwinds around them. Well written and presented Linda...very well done.
I love it, Linda, a perfect spring ode in the life to death -to life cycle that is neverending. There is nothing as fascinating as rebirth. Superb poem!
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
