Poem Artwork

In poetry I'll exorcise the past,
as there are spirits there
best held between the lines
and pressed by hand
into the dilute brew of fact,
myth and belief

As the page turns
and my story unfolds,
I stand in the present
precariously balanced
between the yeast of the past
and a future still forming
in my mind

Distilling what's been gleaned
from the wheat and hops
learned and unlearned,
the future bubbles and churns
aging in oak barrels but
time is required for fermentation

Just partake of what tidbits
you will with a crust of bread
to absorb the intoxication
that feeds your thirst
and please, a grain of salt

For these are only crumbs
of who I am and who
I am becoming,
offered in faith at this meal
prepared from a menu
I've invited you to taste

Esteemed guest, perhaps
I can't satisfy your hunger
but I've appeased mine
I'm content and honored
just to have you at my table
as I clear the plate

Brilliant analogy of your poetry and life, and great advice on living, as far as what to leave in and what to leave out. I love the honesty in this. I feel like you're sharing a little bit of your soul. This is truly poetry at it's finest! Pierre.

An exquisite poem Linda.
I have saved it!

Inordinately clever and filled with the pleasing wisdom of giving!

It has been my pleasure to sup with one of the best!

Many blessings!

This is a sumptious feast that you prepare for us all at the Lord's table..
Reminiscent of the Lord is my Shepherd..
" My table Thou hast furnishèd
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.".....
Beautiful work
Blessings

THIS is good. I seem to be saying that a lot about your poetry lately. You have a deep depth to your poems that speak to me almost as though I am reading the written words of a sacred book.

It takes time for us to understand, like the wine that must age to taste so sweet.

Dear Lin
Superb, fantastic piece! Love your imagination and wisdom ("and please, a grain of salt" ~ salt does wonders to balance ill effects of sugar)
I love being at your table... Table of Becoming, and I'm appeased!!
Thanks for this tasty write!
Love, Suzie :-D
