Poem Artwork

The weight
rests on shoulders
of those ripe
in the world melons full
with seeds of freedom
What do we know
of cool winds
full pockets
bellys fat with meat
We live on what
the soil gives us
tilled with dreams
we borrow
the work of hands
weathered
dry of tears
What use are tears
but to a thirsty sun
that spins
in its round orbit
while we are crushed
to earth
flat as the bread
that sustains us

Stupendous write Linda, the imagery and your choice of language convey the socio-economic metaphor with Crushing certainty. Most Excellent.

Sadly true, for many in our world today, and for many throughout the centuries. And one wonders if it will ever change.

You give voice to the people outside of the 'american dream', who can only dream of the freedom and wealth that we have. Powwerfully written piece. Thanks!

enduring socio-economic hierarchies will go unchanged unless something massively dramatic forces a shake-up of human priorities...
picture and poem worked together perfectly.
well done, Linda!

Sad commentary on our society and that of the world over, but unfortuantely no one, including us, ever really does enough to change
it! Excellent work Lin!

Unfortunately the poor are the fodder of greed and war. Somehow, everything got turned around way...yonder ago.Keep your voice loud...some will listen.

Soulful and at the same time defiant and strong the people speak and the world will have to listen. Great job here.

Linda

You highlight the harsh divisions that are an ever constant in our unfair and divided world.....
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer...it has always been that way...and it will forever stay that way...
The graphic sums it up perfectly..

Peter
