I got a cheque yesterday
It came in the mail.
Wages from a clutch of books,
That have painfully earned out their small advances.
I banked the cheque (paid bank fees)
Paid out one fifth in wages.
Paid the Aurora bill
and paid my tax.
The pitiful remains might buy
us groceries for a week.
That's if we don't eat much.
Wanna write for a living?
Nah. You'd have rocks in your head.
I wouldn't give up my day job... if I ever had one.
*grins* i write, because i love to...not to be rich (although i wouldn't turn down the $$ if it were offered...i'm not that dumb! HA)...it *would* be nice to extra $$, this livin' paycheck to paycheck is the shits! SORry! it's the truth...like this poem...it's honest, heartfelt, and you don't hold nothing back! BRAVO!! blunt is a good word...but in a great way. you don't pull no punches, do you? :) thanks for sharing. (((HUGS))) and love, karla. :)
