And All I Did Was Smile
By Barbara Lynn Terry
I sat at the dinner table, waiting for my feast,
While Jack carved the roasted beast,
When he was finished, he offered me a drumstick,
I told him that it was way too much for me,
Next he offered me a wing, I said ewwww, ick,
I just want a piece of white meat sir, if you please.
He laughed his jovial ho ho ho, and gave me the,
Slice I wanted, to which he said, you're eating like a girl,
To which I just smiled and didn't say a word.
I took small bites so that they could see,
That there was this girl in me,
That wanted out and to be free.
I sat with my legs crossed at the ankles,
Like the prim and proper ladies then did,
And I held my napkin to my mouth,
And just dabbed the corners,
To which they all replied,
That's a good girl,
And all I did was smile.

I very much enjoyed reading this and liked the way you set the atmosphere. I think that through your writing you have given the world a look into your very kind heart and gentle spirit. Nicely done, and thank you for sharing.
