I remember Patsy, Kitty, Loretta and Mama Maybelle,
They sang the songs that we all could tell,
our children of the wonderful things they sang,
and of the lessons we learned from them still,
that in our most lonliest times we could smile,
and sing along with them.
It wasn't that long ago, that we sang along with them,
and danced in our bedrooms to their wonderful tunes,
that we identified with so many times over,
and wished we were that girl in the song,
that they sang to us of love, kisses and romance.
I remember listening to Patsy Montana songs,
even tho she was before my time,
she was the one who was first, and ever so talented too,
I remember, oh so many who made me happy,
cause it was the only happiness I ever had.
I remember Johnny Horton, Johnny Cash,
and the wonderful songs like,
Tennessee Flat-Top Box, Ballad Of A Teenage Queen,
North To Alaska, and I dreamed that that honeymoon home was being built for me, as I was her Jenny.
Oh the dreams we had as we listened and sang along,
the thrills we imagined we'd have as we danced along,
to the wonderful music of yesterday.
The music that sings to my soul is older. Some would say ancient!
But I know exactly how you feel. No matter how bad things got,
we had song and dance. To think of all the musicians, "sung" and "unsung," who labored for pittances in order to give us
joy. I for one vow to offer up more prayers of thanks to muscians
of the past. . and today! Thank you!! 'Pea' <3
Well written. But not heard of those songs or singers..

You are probably too young to remember the radio and soaps on the radio as well as musical shows. It was so much fun to sing off key with Patsy, Kitty, Loretta and Mama Maybelle.
So true you are and I still recall all of them and even still have most of them somewhere around here on cassette, maybe it's time I dug them out and got down my old faded scarred cowboy boots.

Yes there was some great singers in this past century. Music will always be part of our lives.....and the beat goes on.
My book of poetry is being redone by me, I have a beautiful cover designed and the book will have a few more than 200 poems in it. I am going to have it printed on demand here in Canada. When it is done I will let you know when it is done and if anyo
