This is what I was forced to endure.

I Am A Survivor
by Barbara Lynn Terry

I am a survivor of such abuse,
Of being abandoned, beaten, and raped,
And there was no way I could have escaped.
I was a sweet child of twelve,
Who only wanted to be herself,
As my innocence they stole,
Like a thief in the night
To rid themselves of me,
Because this girl I so need to be.

I am a survivor.

I have been thrown to the wolves,
But my soul remains intact.

I am a survivor.

I have been beaten until I bled,
By those who knew I couldn't fight back,
And All I had were tears to shed.

I am a survivor.

I have been raped in dark places every day,
Where the staff couldn't see,
Or just didn't care to be,
But one day God will make them pay.

I am a survivor.

They tried to erase my female soul,
As I came out, scarred and scathed,
But held on so I could complete my goal
That I would one day, be complete and whole.

I am a survivor.

I am a victim of the system,
That tried to destroy my dreams,
But I refused to let them see,
The terror I felt deep inside,
As this abuse I could not abide.

I am a survivor.

When I walk down the street,
I am So afraid they will beat,
And rape me again,
Living my life in such disdain
That I will lose, and never gain,
The freedom rightfully mine,
And never again see the sun shine.

I am a survivor.

Am I now free of the demons that hide,
In the souls of they, who cannot abide,
The looks and likes of me,
And refuse to let me be?
Why don't they have a clue,
That beatings and rape, you just don't do?

Am I now free to be,
This very girl in me,
To live finally free?

I AM
      A SURVIVOR!

Your are a Survivor you are an insperation. I was abused as a child from under 5 tell 17 no matter what kind of abuse someone goes through we all have those similar feelings and we know what it is like to live a hell on earth. You went through a lot and you have become so strong and an insperation keep sharing and being yourself people who do not like you for you you do not need them in your life. All we can be is Oursleves God made you the way you are and be proud and let the world know your a wonderful beautiful child of God.
Thank you for this inspiring heart felt write.
You touched my heart.
Hugs Angela

Your story and mine are alike but i have not been raped even though it felt like it often. You and I are truly survivor that have made it through the daggers and snare. Church going phonies aurround the entire world but the cover has been coming off in this season from all the abusers who abuse.

Like Dorothy with her Ruby Slippers, the power to be, has always been yours, Barbie. It is difficult to find yourself, though, when the rest of the world is different and they all believe that you are the one who is strange. I am glad that you finally decided to be who you are and cast aside the ignorance of others.
Take care,
Sherry
