A poem of self contemplation.

Never Again To Be Alone
by Barbara Lynn Terry

I was sitting there crying,
When the officer asked if I was all right,
There was no use in lying,
I had been there all night.

I told him it had been a sad day,
And that this was just my way,
Of sorting through my mind.
His voice was soft, gentle and kind,
As he asked me if I was thinking...
I said oh no not even blinking.
He smiled and said all right have a good night,
To which I was grateful even in my fright.

I drove back down the mountain,
My composure regained,
And smiled as I entered my home,
Never again to be alone.

Officers can be the coolest-and too few poor ones overshadow the multitude who serve and protect.

Glad your heroine recovered and returned safe to her life.

Interesting write, keeps the reader in suspense wondering how and why the character is with the police and so sad. Thank you! DL Mullan

tears are a good wash away of built up emotional energy...many years back a policeman served an "angelic" presence to me..glad he was there for you

Oh, Barbara, this is so haunting -- not knowing what you were up there thinking about, I would have to guess it was a sad time for you and I hope it helped to write about it. This is very powerful writing.
Love,
CJ

Barbs, you write with such feeling. An encounter that left you with something valuable to share. I pray that you find happiness in every area of your life.

Beautiful write...much is said within the heartfelt lines of your work. I have had a few of those nights that you spoke of. I too do not feel that I am ever alone, sometimes only for a moment then I am reminded that with God we have a twenty four seven companion who is our comfort and guide. Great write my friend.
Blessings,
