What Words Can I Say?

When I awake in the morning, what words can I say?

Except to smile graciously and enjoy the new day

That has opened like the petals of a flower

And shines on me like a warm shower.

The new day brings the sunshine and new found gain.

It chases away the nightmares that caused us nightly pain

And sits with us until we have smiled and enjoyed

The beauty that is the world around us.

The flowers, the children, the little puppies and kittens

Bring the forever elusive smile to our lips

As we walk through on the tips

Of our toes so we do not scare away, the new found day.

The birds that sing, and the bees gathering nectar.

The butterflies darting from here to there

On the currents of the soft breeze

That puts us all at ease.

We immerse ourselves in the rays of the sun

As we splash in the water of the lake having fun

Ignoring the problems of another day. So as I say,

When I awake in the morning, what words can I say?
