I Fell Like A Failure

I feel like a failure

with no one to hold my hand

and pull me from the depths of the pit

of despair, that I have fallen into.

I have no legacy, I have no money,

I have no property, I have no energy.

what can I do to pull away from the evil

that has entangled my feet in its vines?

I feel like a failure

with no one near to call a friend

but maybe this evil I can end

if only I had the courage.

There are poets, writers of every kind,

but I can’t even edit a simple line,

because in the turmoil of my mind,

I cannot even find the line of Rhyme.

I feel like a failure

with no direction to go,

no place to sit and rest,

but anyway I do my best.

I feel like a failure,

I have no real job,

As I ponder the human condition,

only to find it is inside of me.

I feel like a failure,

Missed opportunities

Of slamming doors

In my shocked face.

I should be strong, but the fight isn’t there.

I should be true to myself, but I am a traitor.

I should look for all the good

But I just skulk and brood.

I feel like a failure.
