What is your slice of life in a small town? And for the members whose eyes are not good, I have posted this in the larger font.

Slice Of Life In A Small Town
by Barbara Lynn Terry

The street was empty, devoid of traffic and life

I looked east at the morning sky

to see the sun come over the rise.

I went to the harbor

the music was loud

as I looked at the sky

there wasn't a cloud.

While waiting for the nurse

I looked through my purse

what I had to do, I hadn't a clue.

I went to a barbecue

my skin turned a red hue

The nurse put on a soothing salve

which I said I need to have.

There was an overcast sky

as grey, white and wispy clouds rolled by

there were birds and bees flying around

while I sat on the porch in this chair bound.

Some people I didn't know came by

they smiled at me and said hi

as they walked on by

leaving me to my writing with a heavy sigh.

The people in a small town live

from their hearts they will give

but they will also stab you in the back

with years of a practiced knack.

These are just some of the things

that a slice of life in small town brings

the people, the smell of a barbecue

and children laughing and playing as if on cue.

There could be more to say'

but I am just going to enjoy the day.

It is warm, a nice gentle breeze,

and people with allergies let out a sneeze.

you know...everywhere you go there will be
someone to stab another in the back
it's dispicable actually...but I just smile
because if it gets to you they own you...
so let it slide off like a nice cooked rib
yeah...I fire up my grill all the time
even in the winter time....
Kickin Back with a brew pop...Summer Ale!!

LOL, that last line is perfect for the area I live in, the allergy season is awful here-I love how this poem was a real treat of the 5 senses, each line coming alive before the reader's eyes.

Hi Barbie, this is so real and is happening right now in my hometown where i'm working... i have lived more than half of my life in the city but my heart always seem to hear the call of the gentle summer breeze and soft rustles of the many mountain streams in my little hometown. Beautiful lines you wrote here...thank you for sharing. Peace and love in Christ, Little Sister.

Be safe and well,
Sheri

Sausalito CA was a small town, is a small town and should continue to be a small town, with its provincial siestas and the bay wind knocking gently on the windows...or at least, that's the dream...

I live in a small town, and can relate, and sometimes its the ones you think are your closest friends that do the back stabbing, but somehow you get on, and despite the negative, I love small town living

Seems to have a lot of different meanings. Those who stab you in the back, unfortunately live in towns, both big and small.
I hope the rest of your day, remains with the feelings of a warm gentle breeze. Warmth and Love to you, Barbara.
