She was my faithful partner,
she was my special friend.
She was by my side
for thriteen years,
On her I could depend,
to listen to my tales of
woe, my secret inner longings
She never uttered a bad word,
nor voiced a critical thought
Her hair was the color
of golden wheat,
Her eyes were soft light brown
A true r, loyalier friend ,
I have never found
Now she's gone from me,
lost with out a trace
I've looked, called her name,
naught to see her face.
In my mind ,I still can see her,
running through the pines
Sandy was my dog,
A better or more special friend,
I've never found again .......
Sandy was part lab. She came to live with us when she was about nine months old and remained until she disappeared . We looked every where, called the animal shelter, posted a reward with her picture, but she never came home again.
We think perhaps she died some where in the country side near our home. She was fourteen . I have had a few dogs since she left, but none have ever compared to her.. Some pets can never true ly be replaced.......

Mary I can imagine how you feel. We lost our Dachsie Cassie Christmas Eve last year. We still miss her but we know what happened to her. It is when they go out for the daily routines nad never return. The unknowing is what makes it hard.
pets, they ask nothing and give their all -- sorry for that loss MaryGrace -- she sounds like she was a very special friend indeed -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael
I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR FEELINGS...WE HAVE A CAT 'CANDY', SHE IS SIXTEEN YEARS OLD AND I KNOW HOW I WOULD FEEL IF ONE DAY SHE JUST DISAPPEARED. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS.

I think it is their amazing unconditional love for us that keeps them lingering in our hearts...I can still recall past pets in that heart space and send them my love to where ever they have gone. Hugs for you.
Sorry about your loss. I know how dear animals can become to folks. I posted a story on AD "Ole Bounce's Dignity" that tells about the loss of a favorite pet when I was a child. Your poem is very descriptive and interesting.

Hi MaryGrace
It's bad enough when we know where our dear doggies have ended. It would be harrowing for me not to know and I feel very much for you. Be well, Liz
This tribute will touch many hearts, Mary Grace. You are so right, that some can never be replaced or forgotten. I'm sure it comforts you to know that you gave Sandy a good home for so long.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I feel your pain ,as two weeks ago I lost my beloved cat of 16 years. Reading this made me think of him, and bought tears to my eyes. God Bless you,my friend.
