Helping others but losing oneself in the process

I have immolated
while my heart was burning bright,
I have sacrificed myself for Higher Light.
Extinguishing all doubt
through denial of oneself
I have played the hero
sharing all his wealth.

Nothing comes expected
expectations are the worst
it's a hope without tomorrow
it's like living in reverse,
and it feels just like a curse that I abide.
Inner voices, they have spoken,
they have lied,
projecting former fear
through cunning pride,
conversion of my presence
to subconscious suicide.

Yet now I think I hear it
all the over-active chatter
yesterday; it doesn't matter
it's a blur in a cafe,
when the smile on my face
disappeared without a trace
as I helped you find yourself
but lost my way.

For my beliefs that mattered
dissipated and then perished
won't you look into these eyes
they will tell you no more lies,
for patiently I waited
though consumed with inner chatter
all the clutter of the choices
voices stalking, pitter patter
in a void without a ladder;
my demise.

Until I lost myself
which was falsehood for my health
simply being is the wealth
to heal our cries.

Zachary,
WOW!!! the masters have nothing on you. I love this piece. This is poetry as it should be. Life may be filled with the unexpected but just to be there to see it is a privilege.
