Uncle Sam Took To Preachin

Uncle Sam took to preachin’

From behind a big smoke screen

He said come on in we’ll tax your sins

In the land of falling dreams

God fearing men, puppets on strings

Welcome, one and all

I only ask one small thing

That you honor me with your awe

Darkness means nothing if you can’t see

Voices without song deliver silence

So close your eyes and trust in me

I expect your full compliance

Selective sins will pave the way

As we prey on the working man

I’ll settle the difference another day

He introduced his new plan

There’ll be a chapel on Capital Hill

With amnesty for my friends

As long as you foot the bill

I promise the world won’t end

Beware the traitors are everywhere

Tempting you with their questions

Close your ears and say your prayers

Uncle Sam has another destination

you gotsta tell it don'tcha..the poetic imperative is the unflinching examination of our shared reality. you accomplish that task and more, in this work. food for the mind of the thinker...write on, write on.

"Uncle Sam Took To Preachin'" is a flag of our times. Alertness and
prudence are its colors, and its words are arrows indicating the addresses of the violators of the Constitution of the United States of America.

I salute You, Sublime Poet!

Hard hitting and truthful in every word and line you posed...excellent portrayal of power and greed. Don't get me wrong...power and money in itself is not bad, for they both can be used for good, however as you point out so vividly, is that in this case....it is not for good, but evil...a really powerful write Sandy.

Sandy, sounds like you're a little unhappy about what is happening on Capital Hill and the White House. Could this be?
