{About a lost and confused soul I once knew, A.R.}
I have an idea of where you are on this blue-green sphere we both inhabit;
Where your head is – that is the mystery
As I curl up in a corner still inscribing the little embossed leather book you gave me
There are a
few things I’d like to ask the hologram that you are before my eyes:
Do you still weave your winding verses,
Or have you wound yourself into one big lie?
Do you finally make your own decisions or is your life still tangled up in the strings of
That insecure puppeteer whom you claim to love so much?
Have you found “true love” in the average arms of a common nobody who is the barrier between you and eternal paradise?
Do you feel the glorious freedom that I do; the kind you feel when you dance in the midst of a snowfall in the moonlight?
Or are you shackled by your stupidity, scalded by it as though a boiling torrent under a scorching sun?
Have you found an oasis in the wretched desert of depression and regret?
Or do you hide your parched lips and cracked knuckles to maintain a mirage?
As I scratch these words in the little orange book
(seeing your face so clearly before me),
I only hope you’ll turn back and seek refuge in reality And thus become flesh before my eyes once again.
