The Words Wouldn't Come

It was clearly a dream.
I am still breathing.
My head shook from side to side.
Twisted pearl earrings,
encased in knotted hair
found in the morning light.

The veins pumped hard as a
chill slithered down my neck.
It crawled across my shoulder,
and traced my clavicle. My
nipples were easily taut.

My body started to ache and quake.
Like the urgency of a drowning man,
I was gurgling and gasping for air,
then I tried to speak.

I looked over and there lie a
man; blissfully unaware
right next to me.
Still the words wouldn’t come.

With the sweat now trickling
I realized that I was passing
into another form of life.
Self pleasure while sleeping
deep in this wet ardent state.

Janet, congratulations on becoming the first Authors Den Book published. I'm envious!...yet proud. You deserve it. Your work is clear and well written. I can see that you too write from the heart. Good going!

First Janet, many many blessings on your first AUTHORS DEN BOOK!

Double Wow! You are most deserving my sistah. . .

As I read this poem in particular, I too have felt similar post-dream state feelings in rare instances when I am either flying, running, and "engaged." And if I don't write the words quickly, (like most creators commanded by muse may agree), fleeting thoughts becomes cosmic dust for the next dreamcatcher.

Keep dreaming big dreams and build the catchers to never miss a one.
blessin's,

you are so honest in your work as well as moving...

and you paint with words or bring us right within the experience, wondering and hurting, a little, than waking and still...

I wish I had the words, this is so damned gut/heart honest & just know you have a gift so well worth sharing, and please, hope you know that to envy your 'way', Poet, is a compliment...in awe, at times, humbled at others, and again, here...this was so well, just YOU GO, WOMAN!

love and peace,

m.

As I've said previously, Janet Caldwell's work leaves me simply
"breathless." Janet, Is it appropriate to say that your words
create in a me a complete mental and spirtual orgasm? (Do I feel
yet another poem coming on?).

The direction you took this on was so out-of-world-reality-like that it hit home. I loved the weaving of this.

Dear Janet.. erotica comes in bushels.. must weed through to find the true 'goodies'.. sigh, but you rise to the top.. you come at this from an entirely new angle and it shines.. there's melancholy, there's rawness tempered with tender reality. How clever you are to blend the surreal with the very recognizable real! I've been away too.. it's lovely to read you again. love, katy xox.

Wonderful descriptions..it can be anatomy of fear, as you say "chill slithered down my neck"..it can be a dream as many wrote :)..
it can be ..well..as the second last stanza suggests..something more elusive!

I think author keeps reader guessing for a complete consistent picture. Marvelous piece, which challenges reader for more reads..
