You are aware of the warped colors In my brain.

They are mostly crimson and bullion cubes,

dull in my skillet skull, sautéed with noodles.

Each delegate a part of my life.

Do they know? Who are they anyway?

I don’t think they do. How can you prescribe,

explain the reds, without popping them?

How do I get it across,

while lying on this burdened couch?

I can’t talk to you herhemeandyou.

Did I say that already?

OK, OK, let’s get it straight!!!

I don’t want your help. I want my own.

Too much, too much! I see drops, do you?

Of course you don’t, you’ve Got a PhD.

Your fiddle-dee-dee, some kind of degree.

A special document awarding

A kind of extraordinary vision.

Is this better, one or two?

Go away, I don’t need your help.

As a matter of fact,

you make me a bit more blnd.

I’ll outline it somehow.

I have experienced so-called professional "helpers" who were totally unable to communicate with me. I can relate, Janet. Love and best wishes,

Knowing yourself is sometimes the only way to heal.
Going to the couch myself every friday now....
Wow, I must be stupid for not trusting myself more.
Going to the "opinions of others" revue....
For what???

Great! Thanks for sharing. :)

Bravo, Jan! I've always admired your fighting spirit. It shines especially in this piece. You're so right - unfortunately not only about psychiatry which would categorize us and bundle us and sort us by number, but also about the need for everyone to help him or herself. (That goes for all dealings with doctors) Good for you!

YOU...
damn, Oh, Janet, this hurts, hurts, hurts...and it is so Powerfully written and I feel foolish, but am shaking as I type...am in awe of how you are able to use the pain and the insight and you, God, if...just Poetry, more than Poetry, a Human, reaching inside, deep and giving...
I am, not surprisingly, again, in awe and moved so much...cannot describe...
(your words, your Use of words, damn, even the tile and hesheme..etc...
)

Janet: Most "shrinks" need to be "shrunk" themselves. My first psychiatrist has had his medical license suspended twice for having affairs with his patients. Screw 'em all. I'm the one that diagnosed myself, after many years of suffering. You have a real talent for writing. From someone who has also had scrambled brains. Quite tasty, I might add. (smile) Susan Sparks

Shrinks are for life, not just for Christmas (that might be a very English joke) but I sort of agree with Susan, you don't have to go round the world though. But you know that. Flights from Dallas, Atlanta and NY arrive daily at Liverpool John Lennon or Manchester Ringway several times each day.
Glad you're back sweetie, love me. (MWAH)

Dear Janet,
If everyone's mind is different, and if we are not the same, then how can a pill to control a mind be precisely tested?Mind controlling pills? Were these pills (like most others) tested on animals? How can the findings be exact for humans when humans have totally different minds to animals?Even if they are tested on humans ,as we are all so unique (and certainly each mind is?) then how can it be more than the luck of the draw or guess work that it will work on this or that human?I think most folks on pills for any emotional problem are totally 'Experiment material' (just like rats in a lab cage).
I admire you so much Janet for this poem and making a stand against the medical professions blundering cruel experimenting on sad and depressed people.Sorry to go on so about it but as I have lost two friends due to over prescription of mind controlling pills(and that is what I believed happened to them)as they took their own life due to the adverse side effects and I also almost was one of those who died due to it(in very early eighties ) thank God I tossed them out nearly twenty years ago (but ony after ending up in intensive care due to my suicide attempt)and I only ever started taking them in first place after a severe physical trauma and major surgery/plus loss of love one all within months of each other (bloody doctors!!!they give pills for grief, what idiots!).I believe all one ever needs to be happy is peaceful and safe environment, time heals all.It worked for me,but my two friends were not as lucky they took the pills,obediently... and died.
Go Janet!!!Be a rebel, skrew the Quacks... listen to your heart it knows what is right for you.lOVE from Kay.
