setting takes place at a New Orleans jazz club pre-Katrina...

music

Another hot and dry
August day,
Keziah at piano,
what to play,
biblical, named after
one of the three daughters
of Job,

girlfriend's out with
Brother Rob,
at prayer time, she
holler's out "y'all
remember the
collection plate,"

and Brother Rob
says "there's new
hymnals, services
at eight, don't
ya'll be late,"

"An wasn't I talkin'
to Keziah after church
last Sunday night,
and now you tell
me she's passed
through Heaven's
light,"

and that nice preacher
Brother Rob held
her little girl and
heard her sob,

"no light in the fridge,
they pushed my mama
off the bridge
cuz I had two
mommies, I'm so
sad,"

nuthin' ever comes
to no good outta
prejudice, it's too bad,

Another hot and dry
August day,
Keziah not at piano,
nuthin' to play,
biblical, named after
one of the three daughters
of Job...

a nice, slow, jazzy feel, like a hot summer evening on the porch. Good work, Sage.

You took me back to The Big Easy and to my favorite place Palms Courtyard and the good food, easy conversation, the mellow moan of a saxophone and a New Orleans "moment". I miss so very much the friends I have there and the many memories made before Katrina.
Thank you!
Susan

The length, depth and breadth of the intensity of your scene-setting and story-telling is immense, Sage and so virtual. The diversity is also astounding. "nuthin' ever comes to no good outta prejudice, it's too bad"... now ain't that the truth? Prejudice breeds hypocrisy which the mirror of truth exposes whatever the image sought to be projected is. No one is fooled. You see Prejudice in whatever way it seeks to present itself as if with X-Ray specs, my dear. You have a divine nose for sham. Play it agin, Baby! :)) LOL Kate xx
