with the quick swipe of a
flaming cotton swab, I have
a flash of pain, a near miss of
your kiss, a roadhouse of passion
singes me, I spill my drink on my lap
of heat on purpose, come here, I have
what you need on tap, a cushion for your
knees, baby get off that stage, come to Sage,

leather and dagger, sexy badger, white
parking space lines turn to flames, novelist
and singer brand names, woman hand off that
guitar to the band, roadhouse of passion, I haven't
seen you in five years, my region seers, Hot Autumn!
get the leather to breathe, return the stroke, in rhythm
with John Lee Hooker on the SUV CD, get down on me,

we still perform the same roadhouse
dance out in the parking lot, you've got
to get it right, the prayer house rocking
with stone slabs inscribed with the passion
marked with the moon phases, you've got to
get out the fight, the Sage medicine rocks keep
the energy we borrow from Mt. Pisgah, escorts
us into reclusive backwoods where the leather scents
the sex and takes us climbing the stairs to Womack's
Casino to the whiskey I stashed in the Room 23 for hot autumn, I whisper, "come down with the lantern, bring "it" too, the roadhouse of chrome and leather passion I heard clank from your dresser drawer."  And don't think I didn't
feel what you were doing, Penetrator, the name of your one-woman band, a roadhouse of passion, with the quick swipe of  flaming cotton swab, I have a flash of pain, a near miss of your kiss...

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
