Iron in the hidden ink,
particle accelerator,
electrons speeding,
emitting X-rays,

penetrating The Archimedes Palimpsest
goatskin parchment's paint, illuminating
the iron, 20th century forgers
trying to boost the Christian
prayer parchment's value by painting
religious imagery,

the Christian monk, disrespectful
glory Hallelujah seeker for scrubbing
off the text of the Greek mathematician
Archimedes, a valuable, teaching medieval
document, to write his own Christian prayers,
at a time when the Greek mathematician
Archimedes work was less appreciated,

perhaps God is making the long-dead
Christian monk teach mathematics in Heaven
as penance and scraping the rivalry manifesto
from man's deserving work,

for it is the value of all knowledge that is
relevant for the growth of the people, and not
by Religion alone, in which the Christian monk
devalued honest, hard work to place his own on
top of the scraped goatskin, wiping out
Archimedes, (Palimpsest, meaning "scraped
again.") and again...and again...

Write on, dear Sage. There may well be a few more
parchments around that need to be unpalimpsest-ed,
if you'll pardon the grammar. -gene.

Religion is man made, knowledge is God inspired. Zealots have never done the will of God nor honored his knowledge. Great poem Sage. I agree with Kimmy, having to do anything mathematical would be hell for me!!

A deeply thought provoking work-I agree with the sentiments expressed here and you have expressed them well

Nice piece, Sage! Methinks you are addressing spirituality more than structured religion... That's the best approach for the inner yen and yang to be aligned properly.

I never got it! Math~ that is...

"...perhaps God is making the long-dead
Christian monk teach mathematics in Heaven
as penance and scraping the rivalry manifesto
from man's deserving work"

This would be my Hell!

The parchment is so raw, anything is trying to stick to it...
and it is...
Thought-provoking Sage~
Love and Peace~

Thanks for the info Sage. I believe we are in times when religion will be shown for what it is, and deceitful people who spread their own lies are being exposed. Creator is not about denominations or religion, but personal relationship, and truth. All He asks is that we love Him in spirit and truth, if we do we have nothing to worry about .
