Sage Sweetwater, unrivaled, bringing you the Upper Tier in lesbian erotica...Sage Sweetwater, the exceptional ARTIST of literary lesbian poetic prose...

the man
spit tobacco
juice on my boot,
another man at the
lumber company refused
me nails, my lover is coming
in on the rails,

Friday's banker man
said, "don't lend money to
your kind" - newspaper man
said "my press won't print your
stories, my readers aren't blind,
you plainly offend" - my lover is
coming in on the train - I rode in the
cold rain, my horse knew the livery stable
man would sell us grain,

morning service
train whistle Christian
brethren epistle, rode through
the horse's hock-high thistle,

man's tobacco
leaf harvest drowned,
his muddy boots in the ground,
wet socks sunk in clay, I rode by,
let my cigar ash fall upon his cold, bare
feet in the rain, "Gay can't help you today,"
I said, "F***ing my woman in a perfumed
dry bed" - my lover is coming in on the train,

man's lumber pulled
away from the nails,
catching roof leaks in
milk pails, I rode by,
my horse's shoes nailed
tight, "Gay can't help you
today," I said, "F***ing my
woman in a perfumed dry bed" -
my lover is coming in on the train,

banker man's
straight mortgage
deeds stained watermark,
farmhouses flooded, barns dark,
I rode by, pussy pays the lady,
"Gay can't help you today," I said,
"F***ing my woman in a perfumed
dry bed" - my lover is coming in on the
train,

newspaper man's
printing press halted -
god, all the rust, newsprint
soggy, I rode by, my stories
told in movie, "Gay can't help
you today," I said, "F***ing my
woman in a perfumed dry bed" - my
lover is coming in on the train...

Very direct hit with such blunt force trauma on that town...they cannot see you coming in Sweetwater. It is almost as if you actually lived then. Perfection as always.

Wow another write that not only tells a story but also gives a dramatic lesson on what it must have been like not only for gays but anyone who was a little out of the ordinary.

A sort of lesbian version of Johnny Cash! Irresistible rhythm, great cadence and superb images. Good work Sage.

Blessings on you.

Authentic atmosphere of the Western town, its inhabitants, their chores and wares, their observations including likes and dislikes, prejudices. Well-crafted piece. Cheers

Enjoy! sure you will, sure you should - shame about those other folk - s h a m e - its a two way street you're riding - and this poem is galloping into the station - (when we Brits say 'Yeee-Ha!'i think we look a bit silly, so i'll refrain!) Women's time, who we give our time to, work/time for ourselves, big womanly concerns, feminist ones - economic and very personal -many of us have more power to make more choices than we used to, collectively this is a good thing, yet there are many women in the world who still do not - many people who do not...and are unfairly tapped/drained of their energy by the discrimination of their surroundings - Viva la R/evolucion, gallop on! - anyway, must dash - Sage, i reckon this is a great Ballad of Sweetwater! - Nicky xx

Excellent write, Sage; very well penned! I don't agree with a woman loving a woman or a man loving a man, but if you're happy, then more power to you. I have a problem with it; always have. It's something I have to learn to understand, accept, work out. As a Christian, I believe it is a choice; I don't think or believe a person is "born" gay or lesbian. Yet I can't judge; to do so is wrong. STill, I do accept you as a friend first, and you've been a wonderful one. An honest, heartfelt write, as only you can do. Very well penned; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)

Sage,

Autobiographical? This has the feel of truth to it, being spurned by those who do not understand, or refuse to acknowlege your sexual preference. (As a Christian, I believe it is a choice, but that's just my opinion.) Can't judge, because I am not God. I accept you as you are. ANYhoo, Sage, love the way this read. I loved how you were anticipating your lover's arrival. :) Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, and Merry Christmas, Karla.
