Ashcan life,
spreads cremated
dreams out to pasture,

that wood burned,
fell through the grates,
residue hauled out in the fireplace shovel,

fireplace bricks and hearth swept clean,
kept me warm for a few seasons,
it's time to buy another cord of dreams,

Ashcan sits in the pasture,
the neighbor's pinto horse
reincarnated from the Utes who walked here,

horsehair hangs on barbwire,
caught up from rubbing too close,
lost some hide too, intimacy bleeds,

there's still signs of
a buffalo wallow on my land,
the soil sinks in a spot where the buffalo rolled,

Ashcan wire handle needs mended,
guess I'll bring it in and fix its mobility,
after all, that Ashcan keeps my dreams warm...

I write in Shawpita's Journal: Durango, Colorado,
the evening~21~1876
Ms. Saltwater awoke from her rum dream.

This has a touch of melancholy in it, Sage; hope you are okay! You are in my prayers/thoughts today! Be well, and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

"...kept me warm for a fewn seasons, its time to buy another cord of dreams" I love this line Sage for although we all may interprett differently I equate this with the price we pay in feelings and emotions for the love we so need.

You write with such fervor and what appears to be a heavy heart for all that has come before....

The stuff of life and regeneration cycled through chaotic connections unseen by most except those with a keen eye for the abstract. Wonderful piece Sage!

Rum dreams can be downright interesting, but I have also found out that the rival tequila for being ornery / New hair will grown back, so with skin / Don't know about the soul of this lost person, maybe that too can be mended / Take a drink out of the varmint whot brought you to this exasperating dance . . .

"horsehair hangs on barbwire,
caught up from rubbing too close,
lost some hide too, intimacy bleeds,"

the voices here are so profound
those who bleed &
those who are the arrowhead
piercing the love...an awakening
through the death...rebirth
opening new dreams to pastures
my feelings anyway...perceptions
are what they as are emotional teachers speaking

Wonderful visit into your world. Your mind must be
very crowded with other lives. This is a good thing, I don't
have much room in mine. lol Merry Christmas & Happy New Year's

There is a lingering sadness in these lines, Sage, at least I felt it, especially in,

'...spreads cremated dreams out to pasture' and 'time to buy another cord of dreams.'

I may be wrong, but what I felt deep in my spirit. Beautifully, poignantly written. Hope it warms up for you soon,

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
