It's where I feel
most expression,
it's where I keep my
wet confession,

the venue was
full, the alley empty,
she wanted my autograph
there, there, where she felt out
my name deep, author of the Brand,
sage of passion,

my evening
signing books
for fans, she came
from way in the back,
shouted my car was on
fire in the alley, boxes of
books waited, I knew the fire
was burning slow, deliberate, I
went through the crowd with style
to the emergency exit, ripped the fire
extinguisher from its holder on the brick
wall for drama, my face flushed, my need
for women who can take me higher, women
who can imprint fire with me in the bricks of time,
would The Sundance Wives and the mistress come
out to the alley with me?
