teeth crumbling
from his jawline
embalming decay
mummified his bones
next to his cronies and
his script pimp to tell his
religious story he believed
to be a cultural treasure

tracing Jesus'
Route through
the Old City with
a Mexican Jumping
Bean

his face hair
is long turned
to dust he seeks
communion in the
cold stones

his life upon
Earth he spent
as a God trafficker
pimping unsuspecting
prayer mongers to anyone
who would buy it lacking any
true understanding of humane

social bond

unlike the true
Hermit long bearded
translator of ancient
Christian hymns every
morning the Hermit pulls
on his black habit and cloak
eats a piece of fruit and sets
out to deliver 10,000 blessings
to every place in the world to every
race every religion and every sexual
orientation

team of
scientists
lost their race
against the bulldozers
to pull the past out from
under the burgeoning present
his bones crushed to dust

the Witch
giving him something
the God traffickers could
not a clear conscience the
removal of the opponent's
piece from the chess board

en passant

Another fine write from one of the finest. Love it. Bulldozers win too many times, though, I thought that was sad. Liz

... i love the twist in the tale of this, Sage. A blessing on obliteration! And just so casual, en passant. There is no such thing as cheap grace. It comes with a very heavy price - if not now, then later... en passant. You are such a slick chick! No one's ever goin to pull any woolly-bully over YOUR eyes! :)) x

Ah, the aching of all human kind... to be free of guilt. Quite a good write.

Cheers,

Naturally, the French caught my attention, Sage; I am glad it did. Thank you for sharing this fine poetic tale with all the meaning "behind" the words. Love and best wishes,

Regis

PS: Your title reminded me of an old French song:

En Passant Par La Lorraine

En passant par la Lorraine, avec mes sabots
Rencontrait trois capitaines
Avec mes sabots dondaine Oh oh oh
Avec mes sabots.

Rencontrait trois capitaines, avec mes sabots
Ils m'ont appelé vilaine,
Avec mes sabots mondaine Oh oh oh
Avec mes sabots.

Je ne suis pas si vilaine...
Puisque le fils du roi m'aime...
Il m'a donné pour étrennes...
Un bouquet de marjolaine...
S'il fleurit, je serai reine...
S'il y meurt, je perds ma peine...

I love this stanza:
