flames gathered
below my belt, the
rail line on track gaining
momentum,

she walked
a turn-of-the-century
strut coming toward me,
she heated the parlor car booze,
Sleighty showing me the proper
train track maintenance, honed in
her skill, the bartender asked her
what's your wife havin'?

Sleighty told her
wife's getting ready
for the coming year, I
interjected something here,
it's June, it is the new coming
year,

Sleighty crossed
the line, put herself
behind the bar, that whiskey
she poured me in a Mason jar,
I love you honey,

whiskey under
the bridge, red dirt
road, beginning Monday,
the church be landmarked
inside and out Sleighty said,
then she continued to say I can
understand wanting the gas tank
to be full on return, I see it that proper
rail line maintenance requires yesteryear
luster Denim and Diamonds, I book Sweetwater
for the next poetry slam gig,

Sleighty left
lipstick on my
cheek, party hard
tonight honey Sage,
whiskey under the bridge,
red dirt road, beginning Monday,
the church be landmarked.

This piece reminded me of the old saloon where strangers from out of town would suddenly appear.

Be always safe,
