Bibles Opened the Wound

Living room religious views
Dirty windows blur
Black crows smudged

Vinegar tincture
Obituary newsprint
Wipes History repeats

Cloaked lies
Stained glass
Religion's deceptive art

Puppetmaster Jesus trafficker
Strangled in the strings
Marionette tangled up in fraud

The story be told
By the cowgirls one year
The lightning rods fired back

Black wrought iron
Nail of Truth
Hammer driven coffin

Horses with scabs
Bridles tarnished
Bibles opened the wound

And I cry
Happy that I know
Love doesn't go

Up on that hill
The old rugged cross
Is a place to tie my tired horse

I look up to
The women who
Inspired my year

The Sundance Wives
I love you....

This is an inspired write, rife with contrasting ideals and conflicting imagery. Love the western theme in your penultimate stanza. Stark, sincere, and spiritually uplifting. Thanks so much for sharing, Sage.
