Outlaw Dust: Deadwood or the Dead Sea

imperturbable, she
sits upright at the jacquard
loom she being the recipient
of residuary legatee, after the
deceased properties were paid,
the heir loom spinning wild tales
across the west, many wear her
western tales upon their backs,

threads of manumission
setting free the outlaw dust
to spin in a tumultuous dust devil
where everyone looks like an octoroon
having one quarter negro blood, a dusting
of beautiful coloring upon the skin, purely
divine,

precatory before the
whirlwind takes leave
of sanity, pray your ass
will survive, you hug a tree
knowing its roots could either
save you or cancel you out, the
nature of prayer, guns can't shoot
this enemy of time, evil and as johnny
rotten and the sex pistols,

outlaw dust -
deadwood or the
dead sea,

sodom and gomorrah
or Jett Durango, her characters
are tightly woven into the mainstream
weave of the old west, outlaw dust a
narrative, faro and keno a privilege bestowed
upon her on a december day over a century ago,
the winner takes all, the outlaw dust, earth powder,
the oath she took, there'll be days like these.

You have a wonderful facility, Sage, for making great verbal puns and double meanings...

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
