Carving the Religious Idol

of all the
chisels I've
dulled carving
the religious idol,
she now stands in
all of her nativity, life
given to her from just
some damn scrap wood
in my firewood heap,

sexually devotional
to arouse sensation,

to be born into
the top half as a
rock and roll woodstock
idol of Janis Joplin, Pearl album
posthumously released, she wears
more jewelry than a Babylonian whore,

the bottom half as
a Cripple Creek whore's
madam Pearl DeVere, it is
evident pussy is creativity and
nativity is birth, and successful
women charge for their special gifts,
freedom's just another word and my
bandana has wiped away years of sweat,

of all the
chisels I've
dulled carving
the religious idol.

I like this along with the Janis Joplin music, minus Janis, of course.
