The Switch: Sappho's Grizzly

she chewed
a mouthful of
berries, marriage
was bitter, her husband
was bothered by the cinnamon
bear; Sappho's Grizzly rose from
centuries of hibernation, oh the woodlands
are volatile

ambling down

a twilight trail,
the female grizzly
eyed me, she made
her move; balancing
the ecosystem

blessedly, this encounter
is in between cabins of fall
and spring; the huckleberry habitat
a part of the natural environment

strongly worded
pamphlets are passed
to society warning about
The Switch: Sappho's Grizzly;
she comforted me through my
womanhood in ancient cosmic meadows
where butterflies transformed the vagina into
a sweet honeypot

and now?

she has
moved to the
deepest part of
my womanly interior;
eco-f***ery

with words...

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.
