Vindication at the Horseshoe Pit
She threw
a ringer, encircled
the steel post with a
man-size forged horseshoe,
her vision when she pitched
the shoe was clear, she saw
the white collar by god, his neck
fitted with a blacksmith prayer, choke
the bastard devil around his stake, give
the devil his due, amen; she went to the
saloon for beer, she sat on the bar stool,
knocked him off his pew.
