Bat Masterson Loaded his Cane On Me
kit carson
hawkeye of the west
with his blackpowder gun
and smoking a pipe came into
the long branch saloon looking
for a score of marijuana he always
knew where to find me with my tin cans
of pot carson was cougar all the way

opened up the end
of his gold-knobbed
cane and pushed it toward
me he said "mary jane" I said "lula fisk" he paid me in faro coppers
he was my dealer I was his he was off to
illegal operations at the livery stable and to
send me a future telegram once I hit colorado
where my weed grew bat masterson loaded his cane on
me and bought old guns at pawn shops carved notches in
the handles and sold them at inflated prices he wore his derby
hat high
