Wreath of Corks

the clouds float
as light as confession
like a wreath of corks tied together
decorating the water picked up by the coast guard
not as a distress signal but rather as ancient crotch stoppers
to keep secrets from leaking their truths as you can see they're
intended for wine bottles where they do the most good

confusion diluted with false emotion
weakened constitution lies there with her thighs spread
watered-down whiskey is good for a carpet picnic affair but
it does nothing for fire on fire time-honored f***ing that has both
lasting meaning and mutual respect

of course a silver reputation
cannot be corroded by a lack of judgment
or really anything in my special world of truth
where mayonnaise is spread to the very edge
of the bread, still

As always there are several startling images in this piece Sage. The meaning of a cork and passion restrained too much are obvious, but the second verse drives that home. Passion is to be enjoyed you know. As usual a good and interesting read. Bob

your wordplay never ceases to amaze me, Sage ...

i'll never be able to finish drinking a bottle of wine without keeping that image out of mind ;)

Careful, you will get mayonnaise on your finger and have to lick it! Like I always say, lick-her is quicker. ;-)
