Artist's Chair Barber's Palette

twilight gray
falls to the floor
the senior color

Sherwin Williams
says twilight gray
warms the rat he reads
the bible to his grandkids
and tells lesbian jokes to his
straight granddaughters over eighteen

Benjamin Moore
walks in with a
newspaper and a cup
of starbucks loaded with
a sugar clash he says tastes
like turpentine eider white
falls to the floor the senior
color

Dupont brings
in a boring paint brochure
silvermist falls to the
floor the senior color

in walks Valspar
boasting the tagline
the varnish that won't turn white
peppercorn falls to the floor the
senior color

A great personification of paint brand names. Although I didn't see "Behr" (pronounced, bare), perhaps because it's hair color is rather young and doesn't approach the "silver or white" stage yet. But I believe their flesh tones are in the "surrender the pink," range.

Reminds me of the time, many years ago, when I stopped in a barbershop in a residential district in Morgantown, West Virginia just as I was beginning my doctoral studies. The old codgers in the shop were busy discussing n**g*rs and making derogatory jokes here and there. After I got my hair cut, I made sure they never got my business again.
