Black and Orange Tile Checkerboard Floor

neoprene soul
rubber sole boots
glide across the black
and orange tile checkerboard floor
in step with nobility of eagle

biker decor colors
loud like fishtail pipes
three bright orange felt custom
pool tables playing off a prophecy
onlookers watching the bank shot pay off

beards grow longer
fingernails grow shorter
20W50 and a funnel filling
demographics running application
checks on annual household incomes

compensation for putting
pencil to paper hammer to nail
leaving punching a timeclock to manage
free enterprise open dog days and christmas eve
selling dreams from a black and orange tile checkerboard floor

it's not how
you get there it's
how you intend on arriving
they say orange is the new black
I say prove it

Everyone gets there from different paths. None are wrong and none are true unless they get you where you're going. The proof is in how you end. The images of experience seem strong in this one Sage. Fun to read. Bob

Your poem reminded me ofhow in elementary school when those of us who had rubber soles made a mark on the light linoleum floors, the nuns used to have the guilty party get down on his hands and knees with a pencil eraser to remove the offending marks, and then wash where they had erased with soap and water. That last stanza is classic!
