below the chin
rests a canyon
set deep between
pairs of escarpments
with a tendency to cut
through underlying surfaces

gorges and ravines
where vintage wine carves out

ego and shadow
at different times
of the day folklore
the promised road jung
proposed

marriage
gold in the shadow
making a contribution
to commitment

addressing

the quill for the signing

harkening back
to december's child
when the surrogate leaped
from temporary to eternal wired
to channel emotional energy it has
