An invisible river guides me
Over moss-covered stones, through darkened crevices,
Leaving me floating carelessly in daydreams
Of what could be and what cannot be…
An ocean divides us, it is true ,
But the greatest obstacle is deeper than the Atlantic,
More potent than any active volcano,
And what I desire may be an illusion, but…
Stripped bare, torn raw,
My wounded heart floats amongst the debris
Of fractured daydreams…those lost thoughts relinquished
In the late night hours, when the distance overwhelms
And the silence contains more words than can be spoken.
How can I reach out to you when you slap my hand away?
How can I let go when you are always there, the invisible guide
Touching me through the waves,
Surrounding me with the scent of desire and fear
