There’s a secret
I must keep, a dark hole
I must hide…I must hide
It from the world, from you,
And the Earth, Wind, and Fire, too.
Yet, you know and you’ve known
For so long…so very long, from that
Moment we knew that this was a
Tumor, a blue tumor, that could only
Grow and grow until it swallowed
Both of us whole.
Now you want me to hide it,
This huge growth, this tremendous hole,
From everyone and everything and lie
To myself, hide from myself,
And deny we‘ve already entwined our lives
Around one another.
I have cut away the visible signs
So that none can see, none may know
What lies between us…miles of karma,
Oceans of friendship, and deep, dark secrets…
I have sliced off sections of this tumor,
I have filled in the marks of your name,
I have filed away the blue lines left in my soul
But I cannot let you go!
Oh, how I try to give you what you want,
How I try to forgive and forget and
Let bygones wash away in the storm…
I am drowning in this lie,
But I will keep trying to hide
In this blood-stained canvas,
For you.

Dena, this is incredible and so very raw, so intense and so quietly deadly...! Amazing write and yet I feel guilty for enjoying the rush of darkness you've engineered because of the despair inside it. This is beautiful work, (but I hope it is only that, a poem, some piece of fantasy and verse you've created)!
