I don't thing that when I wrote that man was a cold winter I was off the mark, because my fellow men, being so consequent, never will cease to disappoint.
A man with too many riches
will try to clench to dear life,
while a man with no possessions
will never be afraid to die.
Rich nations with bulging coffers
will turn to the poorer a blind eye,
Poor nations with very little will rush
to help and share the little they have.
Rivers of milk going to waste because
rich farmers don't reach top prices,
tons of meat thrown after been too long
in the shops and went out of date.
With nobody wanting to foot the bill
fermenting away are mountains of rice,
so, can anyone smarter than me explain,
how it is that in 2007 we still have hunger?
We can say it in many of the world's languages,
hunger, fome, hambre, sult, fame, hanga, or njaa
corroding away the belly of millions of poor people,
that because of it, wouldn't see tomorrow's sunrise.
Sometimes apathy is the greatest enemy of progress. Out of sight, out of mind--such a dangerous outlook. Thank you for reminding us that the world is a community, and we must all take responsibility for its well-being.

ah my friend...you pose a hard and unfortunately unaswerable question in this well developed piece of work. I say hard because of its truth. Man is his own worse enemy and always seems to have an excuse for his bigotry...whether it be race, religion or creed.
This is an exceptional piece of work.
sssshhh! Don't say it too loud my friend. We don't want the networks to know there are issues out there other than the war on terrorism. Besides, combating hunger and starvation are hobbies for retired politician's who have tired from golf course. There is another 124 Billion about to pass through to be directed toward operations in Afghanistan. Wonder how much rice that would buy. - HB
Outstanding write my friend...one that makes the reader stop and think...serves as a powerful reminder and a harsh look at reality. If man cold get past self and give more they in turn would recieve more...I have found this rule of life to be true time and time again. Nice write, full of truth and passion. When all the rich nations share food with poor nations and it is their governments who refuse to give the food out, who is to blame then? When the food sits at ports and decays because of corrupt governments in poor nations, who is then held responsible?

Growing up all we heard was don't waste your food because the people in China are starving from my Mom..Who knew about Africa, and the other nations then..Between the homeless and the starving what is our World coming to..Why aren't there more compassionate people out there..How can anyone not hear the cries for help..A picture speaks a thousand words..

Yes, dear Georg, what a dichotomy and what a travesty it is in this modern-day world that we continue to see people starving when there is bounty enough to sustain everyone. Why, indeed?

it is hard for a richman to enter the kingdom of God. Parting to do kindness to brother humans means he would have to measure his loss for keeps track of his riches and growth. To many are starving and this need not be around the world. This is so Powerful George thank you!!
We live in a helter-skelter, topsy-turvy world dear Georg. And it keeps getting worse. So little makes any sense to a thinking, and intelligent gentleman as yourself, or to anyone else, for that matter, who has eyes that see beyond their own bellies.
Tremendous write - a true humanitarian whose heart is hurting with what he sees.

A good write for it does make us wonder. I also honor all those who do stay in the realm of these people and try to help them. There are many people who have devoted their whole lives amongst the poor and hungry to bring them if even the smallest of relief. Let's not forget them. Lady J

How true this write...The gov't. turns there heads to the poor except during tax time...Hunger should never exist in any country...
It's downing to write of such shame...but for all those tomorrows, for the ones who read this, they will know we had no control over this sickness and hopefully they will find a better way to share their gifts they so happen to be blessed with...for this my dear friend is all temporary!
