The tears

Life changes

The tears that came to wash
away the guilt and anger,
have dried now, gone away.
The world that once was dark
and gray,
has brightened some with
sunny days.

The nights that were so
dark and long,
now have a moon that casts
a glow.
Upon the earth it lights the
night and gilts the trees
with silver.

A change has come to free
this heart,
from chains that cruely
held.
Now free, this life has grown
and flies,
on endless winds, on sunlit wings
of life.

Hello, Sandi, I really like this one, it really describes being unhappy, but tells of happiness. It has true emotion and powerful words. It also has deep meaning. As a title of a poem by Frank Stantion says, keep a goin. Dean

Meter and the music of language have obviously worked their way more into your writing than when first I saw it. I still see what is, for my money, an over-dependence on abstraction - a word we all "know" like guilt or anger substituting for a simpler more direct thing we can feel. Still, you did a great job here of doing the hardest thing in poetry, an uncomplicated paean to happiness. Don't get me wrong - plenty of people try, and they end up writing for Hallmark, if they're lucky. This is definitely past that crowd - well done!

I think it's beautiful. I feel that in my personal life I am coming out of a "dark" time and entering a brighter, happier time so this poem came at the right moment!
