Neptune became part of our life on July 22, 2012

His untimely death at the hands of another arrived on August 10, 2012

Only five months old a long slender neck of a most beautiful brown

A white body and long legs, he was actually a loving beautiful angel we had found

He would eat out of our hands and follow us wherever we went

 His absence at the hands of one who poisoned him, we shall forever lament

His loving presence shall forever remain in our hearts

As will the suffering as the poison virtually ate away at his organs and parts

Yet he wished to be near the humans he had come to love

He somehow crawled to the to lay on the porch above

His head he no longer could hold upright

As the rigor mortis shut down his body so he no longer could fight

With a stiff cold body, he could not feel the comfort of our touch

To exasperate a “ba-ah” of the pain and suffering within was almost too much

We thanked God for finally providing him relief

He called out to the heavens in various “ba-ahs”, it is our strong belief

Joe covered his cold stiff body in the wee hours of the morning

Remembering how playful he had been during the day forgoing

We love you Neptune and always will

God has you in his arms and will take care of the person who ordered the kill.

Joe and I buried you with sadness under the trees on a small hill.
