As the seasons shuffle
a life, honor often
eludes, teases,
quivers on the edge
of an about to be
consummated "deal," like loneliness
looking for light.
Integrity too slinks
away, like truth,
leaving the beauty of
day in darkness
(self-created darkness)
-- out of which
ultimately screams
forth character.
