ATTAINING PERFECTION
Though the golden temples
of philosophy were again to
rise, offering us sanction--
and the absolute acme of
human attainment, we'd not
earn the key to heaven...
even with the cooperation
of science and religion--
and the blessing of angels.
For even then, this world
of erring humanity wouldn't
advance to a perfect society.
We will approach perfection
only when every human soul
is free, and war is history.
