sorting socks

I want to be free
I want to loose
these chains of
have to’s
have to go to work
wash the clothes
make the dinner
water the plants
clean the toilets
smile
friggen smile when I don’t want to
when I want to scream I want to be free
is that so hard
what is your quest
is this my quest
is this my purpose
who said
is this my lot in life
just a lot of the same ole
sorting socks the throw away bigger than the matches
what is this that I do
worth what
to whom
who cares about me and my pitiful
whining
about freedom
who cares that I don’t care
if my cars dirty or not
or that I forgot to call the carpet man
who cares
my soul is aching
my soul is crying for peace
a little piece of freedom
away from the insanity that I alone have created
and I bow my head
and my life weeps
and all around people say
what’s wrong
and there is no words to explain
the pain
of it all
and I know amidst this angst
that life is really good
that health and love and a sturdy roof
and food enough to eat
are really all there is
and that all this pissing and moaning about
the
ever illusive freedom
is just that
pissing and moaning
get your lazy self moving
the weeds are screaming
your son wants to go fishing
and the library books are due
this IS freedom
it’s the best piece of freedom there is
and I got it
tell your soul to shut up
get with the program
feed the cat
forget about AMTRAK
where would you run
how far before it hits you
that you had it all
for the yearnings of my heart
are bound in a ribbon of selfishness
tied with a knot
of pity
and I bow my head
and my life weeps

freedoms just another word
for nothing left to lose
nothing honey nothing if it aint free
uhuh
and feeling good was easy lord
when bobby sang the blues
feeling good was good enough for me
uh uh
good enough for me and bobby mcgee

Josie all I can say is don't feel guilty for feeling that way, go ahead and let it rip...we all do it, and anyone who says they don't is either lying or from another planet...every so often you just have to say ...that's it ...the world won't come to an end if you take a day off from it....trust me...;-)

That is soooo right...the most important thing in life is ...TIME! You must do the things that you absolutely must do but you must make quality time for yourself. Sometimes it is true that the more we work the more things we have...but it takes away from our quality of life by stealing time bit by bit. Having the basics is really all most of us need for we all have to have time at least to enjoy them and those around us.

Sometimes we just need a place to hide, no kids, no phones, no TV, no requirements. Nothing to pull or push us.
