darkness
descends
wrapping icy fingers
angry grappling thoughts
choke the light
hope is crushed
joy extinguished
because
of me
bringing on the dark
I do this to myself
I know
I know we can choose
I know
and yet
for all its anguish
for all its sorrow
for all its fear
I open my arms
to the darkness
it understands my pain
descending
wrapping icy fingers
angry grappling thoughts
choking my light
crushing hope
extinguishing
joy

Think of it this way...sun only and you burn up...we need times of darkness for balance, so long as you come back to the light;-)great write Josie, and I agree with E.

I don't think you will ever have your joy extinguished, Josie. You are too attuned to everything around you.

Josie,
"I open my arms
to the darkness
it understands my pain
descending
wrapping icy fingers
angry grappling thoughts
choking my light

extinguishing
joy "
Sometimes the darkness offers a more lighted aura

We tend to find comfort in darkness, for to venture out means to expose ourselves to all. In darkness we have but one thing to embrace, the predictability of our own misery.
Powerfully written, Jo.
