April showers
normally doesn’t bother
we need it and all
normally like it
good thing rain
washes the pallet
life force
cleansing rain
but not now
not when I have
strawberries that need picked
for trucks that are waiting
to deliver to my customers
who
are tapping their toes
rain
when I wake up to drip drops
I know there will be trouble
can’t pick berries in the rain
can’t deliver unpicked berries
in trucks
to toe tapping customers
all rained out
act of God
not my fault
doesn’t pay the bills
I don’t deliver
customer gets mad
I lose customer
rain comes down
berries rot in field
mama makes no money
bills don’t get paid
mama can’t write poetry
but
we’ll have some friggin
